Audition for a BFA program

The Missouri State Department of Theatre and Dance has a competitive admissions policy for the BFA in Acting for Stage & Screen, BFA in Musical Theatre, and BFA in Dance programs. When applying to Missouri State University, you must submit a formal application to the department through Acceptd and complete an audition. The Design/Technology/Stage Management BFA degree track requires an application and interview.

Interview for a BA/BS program

In order to be admitted to the BA and BS degrees, you must submit a theatre resume and write an essay (400-700 words) that explains, in your own words, (1) how you view yourself as an artist; and (2) what your goals are for your career after you complete your education; and (3) how you believe the BA/BS Theatre degree at Missouri State will help prepare you to pursue those goals. Applicants may also submit a headshot.

Audition for the Acting on Camera certificate

Acceptance for the Acting on Camera certificate is based upon audition and application. Current students from any Missouri State University degree program may apply. Members of the community may apply but must also meet Missouri State acceptance guidelines. An entry GPA of 3.5 or above is recommended.

All auditions are conducted via digital submission. As such, applicants must submit a formal application and audition to the department through Acceptd. Please contact the Acting on Camera Coordinator to receive a coupon code to waive the application fee:

All candidates should complete an online application process. After completing and submitting a prescreen application, the department will reach out within seven days with a notice if you have advanced to the next round of auditions.
