Auditioning for a BFA program

The Missouri State Department of Theatre and Dance has a competitive admissions policy for the BFA in Theatre and Dance and BFA in Musical Theatre programs. When applying to MSU, you must submit a formal application to the department and complete either an audition or interview. The design, technology and stage management degree track only requires an application and interview.

Application process

Candidates should submit a completed BFA Program Audition/Interview Application form and then email additional application materials (i.e. résumé and headshot) to All application materials are due to the department office no later than 14 days prior to the requested audition date. After completing and submitting an application, a representative from the department will contact the applicant to confirm audition time. Applying early is recommended as audition spaces are on a first-come, first-served basis.
