Advisement

Helping you achieve your goals

The department of theatre and dance is dedicated to helping you succeed. Advisors in the department will help you select courses that will fulfill your career aspirations and academic goals.

You will be assigned an advisor once you have declared a major in one of the theatre and dance programs. If you need assistance in determining your advisor, contact the department office or the Academic Advising and Transfer Center.

Contacting your advisor

You can find out who your advisor is by logging onto My Missouri State and selecting the Student tab, then Student Profile link. You can email your advisor directly from My Missouri State.

It is recommended that you set up an appointment to meet with your advisor at least once a semester. For your advisor’s contact information, view the Faculty and Staff page. Keep in mind that faculty may not be on campus every day, so please provide them with a reasonable amount of time to respond to your questions. Contact the department if you are having trouble reaching your advisor

Transfer students

View the transfer students’ admissions page for more information on transferring to Missouri State. If you are concerned about how your courses were evaluated when you were admitted into Missouri State, the theatre and dance department head can re-evaluate the courses you completed at your previous university. It is helpful that you bring a syllabus or catalog with course descriptions of the courses you completed at your previous university to this meeting.
