Incognito written and performed by Michael Fosberg
FREE!!!

Writer/performer Michael Fosberg began a personal search for his biological father at age 34 that turns up a whole lot more. Armed with only the name of his father and the knowledge that he lived in the Detroit area two decades earlier, Fosberg makes a miraculous call which sets in motion a series of discoveries of family -- of secrets and lies, confrontation and reconciliation. Incognito balances humor and emotion as it deals with race, prejudice and life's difficult choices.

Michael Fosberg, a Chicago native, has been writing, acting, and directing for more than twenty-five years. He has performed in Chicago as an actor at the Steppenwolf & Goodman Theatres, having worked with directors Gary Sinise, John Malkovich, and Robert Falls. He received a Jeff Citation for Best Actor for his performance in Sam Shepard's Savage/Love. His memoir, Incognito, on which the play is based, will be published next fall by Chicago Review Press. The film company NUMBER 8 is currently making a documentary about his life and play.

Ticket Giveaway: Evil Dead

New Header ImageThis week, you can also win two tickets to see Evil Dead: The Musical on Friday, October 9th OR Sunday, October 11th, both at 7:30 PM at the Vandivort Center Theatre.

If you wish to enter in this giveaway, please send an e-mail to Matt Tassell (Tassell65456@Live.MissouriState.edu) with "Evil Dead" in the subject field by Thursday, October 8th, 2009 at 12:00 PM. You MUST include which date(s) you are available to see this production!!!

Based on Sam Raimi's 80s cult classic films, EVIL DEAD: The Musical unearths the old familiar story: boy and friends take a weekend getaway at abandoned cabin, boy expects to get lucky, boy unleashes ancient evil spirit, friends turn into Candarian Demons, boy fights until dawn to survive. As musical mayhem descends upon this sleep over in the woods, "camp" takes on a whole new meaning with uproarious musical numbers, hilarious slapstick antics, and plenty of gory fun!

This production is intended for mature audiences and features strong language, crude sexual humor and violent, bloody special effects!
Ticket Giveaway: Frankenstein, Monster

New Header ImageThis week, you can also win two tickets to see Frankenstein, Monster on Thursday, October 9th, at 8:00 PM at the Gillioz Theatre.

If you wish to enter in this giveaway, please send an e-mail to Matt Tassell (Tassell65456@Live.MissouriState.edu) with "Frankenstein, Monster" in the subject field by WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 7th, 2009 at 5:00 PM.

Springfield Second Stage Productions in association with George Cron and Jeff Jenkins presents FRANKENSTEIN, MONSTER by Le Wilhelm with Steven Barrett. The play is a new version of the world famous Mary Shelly story, commissioned for debut at the historic Gillioz Theatre in October 2009. Set in a minimalistic but dark Victorian atmosphere where rats as large as dogs inhabit the graveyards, the original story remains intact. The Wilhelm/Barrett version features new macabre twists and turns in the horror saga of hubris and arrogance. There is hate, envy and pride, and horror that only visits in nightmares; but there is tenderness and kindness as well. The story is familiar, but the telling is surprisingly fresh and pushes toward a new understanding of an old tale.
