Department Head Candidates Q&A
Candidates for the Theatre & Dance Department Head will be visiting campus in the coming days. All three candidates will take part in a Q&A session with students:

-Dr. James Bartruff from Emporia State University; Monday, December 15th at 3:00 PM, Balcony Theatre.

All departmental majors are welcome to attend. Keep an eye on the Theatre & Dance Website and the TAD for more information.

 
Alice and Oedipus Auditions
Announcing the Unified Audition for A...My Name is Alice & Oedipus Rex!
 
The auditions will be held on:
-Tuesday December 9, Coger Theatre, 7-10 pm;
-Wednesday December 10, Coger Theatre, 6-8pm
 
Prepare: Women and men please prepare one monologue (90 seconds max, contemporary or style) and 16 bars of a Broadway or Cabaret style number (up tempo or balled). Bring sheet music to your audition, an accompanist will be provided. Please fill out an audition form (available on the call board and in the T&D office) and bring it to your audition 15 minutes prior to your audition time. Also bring a photo/resume if you have one.

Note to Alice auditioners from the Musical Director:
"Ladies, this is a contemporary show requiring a lot of belt singing. I recommend you sing a ballad or uptempo audition piece that shows off the range of your belt/strong mix. For callbacks, you will be singing from the show, so be familiar with the cast recording and script (available in the T&D office). Be prepared to bring a recorder to callbacks."
 
Sign-Up: Please sign-up for a 3 minute time slot on the call board.
 
Callbacks will be held on:
-Wednesday December 10, Coger Theatre (Oedipus Only), 8-10pm
-Thursday December 11th Coger and Balcony Theatres (Oedipus), 6-10 pm
-Thursday December 11th Coger and Balcony Theatres (Alice), 6-10 pm
 
Note:  All BFA Acting and Musical Theatre Majors are required to audition. BA, BSED, MA, and all other majors are highly encouraged to audition. Please check the callboard on the 2nd floor of Craig Hall for audition forms and a breakdown/description of each production. Additionally, on the callboard you will find information regarding rehearsal times, technical rehearsals, dress rehearsals, performances.

We will be discussing Adopt-A-Family, the UTD One-Acts, and much more!

UTD One-Act Auditions
TADBanner08The annual UTD One-Act Festival will hold auditions this Friday, December 12th ("Dead Day") from 1-5 PM in Balcony Theatre. Audition sign-ups will be posted on the Balcony Callboard.

The UTD One Acts are original short plays that are written, directed, performed, designed, and produced by students.

This year's selection includes:
-Why I Joined the French Legion by Nicholas Rose
-Fifteen Steps by Matthew Gustave Tassell
-Hippocratic Hypocrisy by M. Evans
-Another Woman's Life by Jessica Teliczan
-The Curse of Three by Stephanie Curry
-I Saw Her Always on Wednesdays by Shane Cottle

Twelve Angry Jurors Talkback
TADBanner08 The talkback for the recent Missouri State Theatre & Dance production of Twelve Angry Jurors will take place this Thursday, December 11, at 5:00 PM, in Craig 206.

This will be the perfect opportunity to ask the cast and crew of Twelve Angry Jurors any question you may have had about the production. Everybody is welcome to attend.
 
Class Performances
Many theatre classes will be giving performances as part of their final. These projects are open to to the public. They include:

THE 310: Performing Literature
Come and join our THE310 class for a final performance that tackles issues of politics, freedom, forgiveness, royalty, airplanes, and unexpected death. Our cast includes characters such as Marilyn Monroe, Eleanor Roosevelt, Martin Luther King, Jr., Mother Theresa, Elton John, Buddy Holly, and more. Join us at 11:15am on Thursday, December 11 in the Balcony Theatre for the thrill of collaborative performance and historical collisions. See you there for a great show and a talk-back session with the audience.

THE 326: Advanced Voice
The Advanced Voice class invites you to witness Shakespeare monologues. This presentation will be held on Wednesday, December 17 at 1:15 PM in Carrington Auditorium.

THE 327: Advanced Movement
The Advanced Movement class will be presenting pieces on non-traditional movement theatre. Our offerings include Noh Theatre, Aboriginal Theatre, Living Theatre, and Lakota Sioux. These piece will be presented on Wednesday, December 17 at 8:45am in the Kickapoo Annex.

THE 411: Structures and Styles in Shakespeare
The Shakespeare class will be performing on Tuesday, December 16 at 1pm in Carrington Auditorium.

THE 515: Theatre for Social Change
Come and witness the energy of our THE515 production of "Spotlight! A Bigz Production" made possible by volunteer work with the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ozarks. Our philosophy is to use community interaction to promote high self esteem in children and to raise awareness through collaborative performance. The themes of this performance range from friendship to growing up, bullies to games, and shared experience. Performance is at 11:15am in the Balcony Theatre on Tuesday, December 16th. See you there for a great show and a talk-back session with the audience.


 
Student Film Audition
Auditions for the upcoming Electronic Arts student film "Roberto and the Robot" well be held this weekend, Friday December 12th, through Sunday December 14th.

Filming will begin in February of the 2009 spring semester. Auditions open to both students and non-students a like.
