Twelve Angry Jurors Review
The following is Larry Colin's review of Twelve Angry Jurors:
"Twelve Angry Jurors," the title of the latest offering by Missouri State University's department of theater and dance, may sound a bit odd to longtime theatergoers and movie lovers...The gender-expanded staging at Coger Theatre includes five women in the cast without notably altering the group dynamic. Yes, there's less sweating and macho bullying this time around, but assertiveness and verbal facility still play crucial roles in determining the group's final vote...
Carol J. Maples' clear-eyed direction lets the text and the cast's understated acting make a good case for Rose's optimistic belief that reason can prevail over hidebound prejudice.
"Twelve Angry Jurors" plays at 7:30 p.m. today and at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Craig Hall's Coger Theatre, 1147 E. Grand St. For tickets ($8-$14), call 836-7678.
