Michael Frizell holds a BA degree in Theatre from the College of the Ozarks and an MA in Theatre and an MA in Creative Writing from Missouri State University. While working on his BA, Michael performed in over 40 plays and directed four at C of O, where he held the Jean Cantwell Performance Scholarship and served as an adjunct director, and worked in Branson at the Shepherd of the Hills Outdoor Theatre (where he performed the role of "Ollie Stewart" for eight seasons), Silver Dollar City, Ride the Ducks, Freddie Fender Theatre, and other venues. After completing his Master's degree in Theatre and working as the assistant director for the In-School Players, he took an almost eight year hiatus, only to find that he missed performing; thus, he started auditioning for Springfield Little Theatre at the Landers. He won the Frannie Award for Performance in 2006, and has been featured in plays as varied as I Hate Hamlet, The Miracle Worker, and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. He has also been seen in a few local commercials.
For the past four years, Michael has held the position of Director of the Writing Center at Missouri State University. He also teaches per course for both the English and Theatre departments. Michael has worked for the university since 2000, having started his teaching career in the Collegiate Reading and Learning program.
