Department of Theatre and Dance Academic Advising Information

This advising page will help you answer the following questions:

Do you need to find out who your advisor is?

Log on to My.MissouriState.edu on the left side of the page click the link to Student Records. From this page you can find out who your advisor is, with a link to email your advisor, what your student id (M#) is, what your major/minor is, what your degree is, and where you can review your advising notes and releases.

Do you need to be assigned an advisor?

Contact the Academic Advisement Center in University Hall 109 (417-836-5258) or the Department of Theatre and Dance office (Craig Hall, RM 355, Tele: 417-836-4400). The Department secretary can help get you assigned to an advisor, and you may always speak with the Head.

Do you need help with re-evaluating how your Theatre and Dance classes transferred?

You may contact the Theatre and Dance Department (417-836-4400) to schedule an appointment with the Department Head to do a transfer equivalency for theatre and dance classes if you have concerns about how certain classes were evaluated when you enrolled in Missouri State University. Please bring a copy of the class syllabus with you to your appointment if you have one, and at least a catalog description for the course.

Are you an evening student?

If you need to meet with your advisor after 5pm, please send an email to your faculty advisor to set up an appointment. You can find the email addresses of your advisor on our website at: www.theatreanddance.missouristate.edu/faculty.asp. You may also contact the department (417-836-4400) to set up a meeting with the Department Head or to track down your advisor if you cannot otherwise contact your advisor.

Do you need to make an appointment with your advisor?

Refer to the list of our faculty (www.theatreanddance.missouristate.edu/faculty.asp) to contact your advisor directly either by phone or by email.

Do you want to know what classes are required for your degree program?

You may locate sample four year degree plans for each major in the Theatre and Dance Department on our website at www.theatreanddance.missouristate.edu/advising.asp. They can be downloaded and printed to assist you in deciding what classes to enroll in or discuss with your advisor. However, you should be aware that your general education degree requirements are found in the university catalog (www.missouristate.edu/registrar/undercat.html). Degree requirements that affect you are reflected in the catalog when you first attend the university. Your major requirements are "locked in" from the catalog in force during the semester that you are admitted to your degree program.

Are you having trouble contacting your advisor?

Please allow time for your advisor to get back to you. Some faculty are not on campus every day. If you have waited a reasonable amount of time and are still having trouble getting hold of your advisor, please contact the Department of Theatre and Dance (Craig 355) at 417-836-4400.
